CAL-ABOTA has established an Amicus Committee.
The current chair is Mike Bradley. The other members are Frank Pitre, Doris Cheng, Bob Packer and Mark Connely. Our primary function will be to prepare statements, correspondence, briefs or other writings in support or opposition to Petitions For Hearing by the California Supreme Court following a District Court of Appeal opinion which may be harmful to the right to a jury trial in civil cases, matters involving uncivil conduct of counsel, access to justice or the independence of the judiciary. In general, the committee will first decide whether an issue concerns the mission of ABOTA. In making its decision about amicus support, the committee will confer and collaborate with National ABOTA. If you would like the Amicus Committee to consider action, please submit a proposal to any one of the Amicus Committee members.
